Rep. Zeldin Statement on Fatal Shooting of Young Mother in New York City, State Legislature's Special Session Targeting Law-Abiding Gun Owners

Statement

Date: June 30, 2022
Location: Patchogue, NY
Issues: Guns

Today, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) issued the following statement in response to last night's murder of a young mother pushing her child in a stroller in Manhattan and today's special session of the state legislature targeting law-abiding New Yorkers' Second Amendment rights:

"Crime in New York is out of control. Every morning, we wake up to headlines of horrifying, deadly violence. It's not that one-party Democrat rule in Albany is doing nothing about it. It's far worse than that. In Albany, they continue to pass new laws defending criminals over law-abiding New Yorkers. There is a special session in Albany today and the target of their new legislation is to restrict the 2nd Amendment rights of law-abiding New Yorkers who want to safely and securely carry a firearm for self-defensive purposes only. Albany is once again targeting the wrong population of society."
